| About Us
In a state like West Bengal
-where industry & technology the key note-investors are
ready to invest open heartedly in the makeover. The ADDA or
the Asansol Durgapur Development authority - a statutory body
under the West Bengal T&CP Act 1979 was formed with a
mandate to provide planned development in this region. The
ADDA has been doing commendable works since its inception. It
is the authority's responsible schemes and policies they would
help more than 4.5 million people who need and aspire a better
living. As a result the investment is identified with planned
developmental guidelines by the ADDA. The ADPA or the Asansol
Durgapur Planning Area is under rapid infrastructural
developments. The region extends over 1616 sqkm and is
surrounded by the Barakar river, Ajoy river on the north south
and the Damodar river. The ADPA comprises of two Municipal
Corporations, three Municipalities and eight Blocks or
Panchayat Samities. As the whole of the region is already
under ADDA's systematic plans & proposals - therefore a
new city with ample facilities is on the onset. The improved
water supply & sanitation for the region, widening of the
NH 2 into a fast corridor the proposed up gradation of IISCO,
Burnpr, the proposals to set up new townships, shopping malls,
truck terminals, airport, infrastructural development both
industrial-commercial-residecial-educational & making
people socially aware are some of the steps of ADDA have
planned and are scheduled to finish by 2025. ADDA is the most
industrialized region within the state and being endowed with
one of the finest & biggest coal reserve within the
country - it therefore gives higher priority to mining
activity over urban development - this appears to be socially
beneficial, keeping the broader interest of nation in mind. A
brief look into the present industrial investment pattern
reveals an emphasized shift from heavy scale industries to
small & medium scale ones. New industries & revival of
the existing ones - both are equally important as the major
part of the population would directly or indirectly be
financially associated - which means social awareness &
better living. One of the major plans among many others, a
systematic land use plan. The purpose of this spatial
structure is to provide a scientifically designed frame based
on an analysis of existing land use and land form, future
population distribution, changing occupational structure
responsible industrial location, traffic alignments & the
scatter of social & physical infrastructure to accommodate
the future population. With an increase in population &
minimum development, the ADDA is determined to plan dwelling
units according to different income categories. The authority
has already taken care of the initial work process & is
scheduled to finish construction by 2025.
